This year's theme: Wissahickon in Winter
As we celebrate the one-year anniversary of the opening of Maguire Hall on November 1, 2026, our shop is inspired by Walter Elmer Schofield’s Wissahickon in Winter, 1920, on view in the Impressionism Gallery at Maguire Hall. Schofield painted Wissahickon in Winter on the Wissahickon Creek close to his brother’s stately home on Moreland Avenue in Chestnut Hill. This was the artist’s home base in the United States during the art season from fall through spring.
The frosty sunshine and light on the trees and water of the Wissahickon creek inspired the shining lights and snowflakes in our shop, where we imagine getting ready for a family winter outing in each “room” of the house, reinterpreted in our gallery space.
When guests enter into the Antonelli gallery at Smith Hall to shop, they will be delighted by a larger-than-life rendering of Wissahickon in Winter along the far wall. We encourage all to visit the work in person just up the road at Maguire Hall! Learn more about Wissahickon in Winter and the Impressionism Gallery at Maguire Hall here.
