Mobility ImpairmentsParking for vehicles with a disability permit is available near museum entrances. All galleries and public spaces are wheelchair accessible except for the del Bueno Balcony. Accessible restrooms and drinking fountain are available and marked on all maps. Seating is provided in many galleries and public spaces. Wheelchairs (manual) are available upon request and on a limited basis.
Hearing ImpairmentsSign language interpretation is available by special request through the Education Department. Please email Amanda at amonroe@woodmereartmuseum.org to schedule an interpretive program at least three weeks prior to your visit.
Visual ImpairmentsVisual description tours given by trained docents are available on request.

Admission is always free on Sundays, sponsored in part by the generous support of the Clarence Rowell Trust. Does not include events on Sundays. Admission discounts do not apply to events, lectures, or concerts.

Woodmere has two locations, Charles Knox Smith Hall, located at 9201 Germantown Avenue, and Frances M. Maguire Hall, located at 9001 Germantown Avenue. Each location has distinct galleries and learning opportunities. Learn more about the art, education, and event opportunities at each.

Policies

We are committed to providing the best possible experience during your visit.
Weapons, including firearms, knives, scissors, aerosols such as pepper spray and Mace, and hazardous materials, are strictly prohibited on the property.
We are a smoke free campus; smoking, vaping, and e-cigarattes are not permitted on the property.

Please do not touch the art and respect fellow guests. Listen to music, audio tours, and conduct phone calls with headphones or at a reasonable volume. See our photography policy and event policy.

Woodmere does not currently offer food or beverage on premises, except for during special events. Open food and drink is not permitted in the galleries, including water bottles. Explore local favorites in Chestnut Hill!

Both locations have a self-service, unmonitored coat closet. Please ask at the front desk for guidance to the coat closet at Maguire Hall, located in the lower level. Please leave large backpacks or bags in your vehicle or in the coat closet.

Visit the Museum Store at Charles Knox Smith Hall during museum hours. Select products and catalogues are also available for purchase at Maguire Hall. Shop the Museum Store anytime online.

Getting here

Woodmere is accessible from Center City Philadelphia via I-76 West (Schuylkill Expressway) and Lincoln Drive or Kelly Drive; from Northwest Philadelphia via Germantown Avenue or Henry Avenue and Bells Mill Road; and from the Main Line and Western PA via US-476.

Woodmere is conveniently located a few blocks from the Chestnut Hill East and West train stations and is accessible by SEPTA bus #23.

A short stroll from "The Hill," Germantown Ave, Woodmere is accessible on foot from Chestnut Hill, or just up the hill from Chestnut Hill College and the Morris Arboretum. Bike access from Wissahickon Valley Park is available via the Orange Trail and Germantown Ave, or the Lavender Trail and Crefeld Street and Hampton Road.

Both facilities have large, free parking lots. Limited accessible parking is available. For large tours coming by bus or van, please contact the education departnment to ensure parking is available, at 215-247-0948.

TICKET SALES
Woodmere’s concerts continue to grow in popularity. Thank you for making them such a success! To make sure as many music lovers as possible can enjoy these performances, we’ve made a few updates to our ticketing process.
Jazz ticket sales are limited to 2 tickets per concert. Tickets are not available for purchase once a concert is sold out, but you may join the waitlist available on the Jazz Concert page if you would like to be notified contacted about last-minute tickets.

ONLINE: sales are only available by creating an account on our website: Click here to Create an Account.
IN-PERSON: Stop by the museum and speak with a Guest Services associate to purchase your tickets.
PHONE: Call 215-247-0476 and leave a message. When available, visitor services will call you back to take your payment information and confirm your concert ticket purchase over the phone.

MEMBERS' INFORMATION
Members’ presale
is available via online sales only. Click here to Create an Account. There are a limited number of tickets available during presale. If presale ticket availability runs out, additional tickets for each concert will be available when ticket sales open to the public.
Members must be logged into their online accounts to receive their discounted music ticket benefit. Your member discount will be applied automatically in your online shopping cart.

HOUSE RULES
Food and drink are not permitted in the galleries.
Seating is provided for indoor concerts on a first come, first served basis. Guests are invited to bring their own seating (blankets, lawn chairs) for outdoor concerts.
No flash photography indoors.

PARKING
Free parking at Woodmere is limited, and available on a first come, first served basis. A sign will be posted at the entrance to the Museum’s driveway when the parking lot is full.
Street parking is available. PLEASE NOTE: Street parking on Bells Mill Road is not permitted.
Limited accessible parking
is available. Please see the parking attendant for assistance or guest drop off.
Additional parking is available at Maguire Hall, 9001 Germantown Avenue. It will be necessary to walk half a block away to Charles Knox Smith Hall, 9201 Germantown Avenue.

CONCERT CANCELLATION AND RESCHEDULING POLICY
Woodmere reserves the right to cancel or postpone concerts due to emergency conditions. Updates will be posted on the Museum’s website and ticket holders will be notified by email.
If a concert is cancelled, ticket holders will be notified and all ticket purchases for the event will be refunded.
If a concert is rescheduled, ticket holders will be notified, and tickets will be automatically applied to the new concert date. If a ticket holder cannot attend the concert’s rescheduled date, please notify Woodmere by calling 215-247-0476 or emailing guestservices@woodmereartmuseum.org to receive a refund.  

On Tuesday nights, Woodmere’s main gallery is transformed into an intimate setting for screenings of rare and underseen films as well as classics. Tuesday Nights at the Movies is presented with the Chestnut Hill Film Group and sponsored by the Chestnut Hill Local.

Suggested donation of $10 to support this longstanding program.
Doors open at 6:30pm. Movies generally run from 7:00-9:00 p.m.

Frequently asked questions

Photography and filming without flash is allowed provided it does not disrupt the experience of visitors. No flash photography is allowed. If an object cannot be photographed by the public, it will be indicated on the object label.

Professional lights, selfie sticks, tripods, audio equipment, auxiliary lighting (e.g. ring lights) or the flying of drones are not permitted without express permission. Visitors must maintain 18 inches between themselves and artwork.

Professional or commercial photography requires advance permission & scheduling with the operations department; please contact Veronica Farr, vfarr@woodmereartmuseum.org. Use of tripods for special events (concerts, performances, etc.) must have prior written approval from the education department and must maintain 36 in. between equipment and artwork; please contact Hildy Tow, education@woodmereartmuseum.org.

Personal photography of artwork or galleries may not be published or distributed for commercial use. Tag us in your social media photos online using @woodmeremuseum.

Photos may be taken by Woodmere staff during your visit, class, or program, to be shared on our social media channels. If you would prefer not to be photographed, please let the staff member know.

Yes, there are free parking lots at both Charles Knox Smith Hall and Frances M. Maguire Hall. There are accessible parking spaces close to museum entrances at both locations.

We do not currently offer food or beverages for sale at Woodmere. There are many wonderful options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in Chestnut Hill. We recommend checking out the Chestnut Hill Business Directory to browse local options.

We do not appraise art. Art on display is part of Woodmere’s permanent collection or part of a visiting exhibition and is not for sale. Occasionally we will partner with an artist to offer reproductions of artwork in our Museum Store as postcards, prints, or other merchandise items. Woodmere has a variety of antique light fixtures and chandeliers, including our Meissen porcelain chandelier and Edison bulb lighting in our Parlor Gallery, the VRSB light fixtures in Smith Hall’s Corridor Gallery made by Robert Venturi, John Rauch, and Denise Scott Brown, and wall lights, saturn lights, and ceiling lights from the historic Boyd Theater at Maguire Hall.
