Join us at Woodmere's Children's Studio at the Frances M. Maguire Hall for Art and Education. Art projects in the studio will change on a weekly basis. In this studio class, students will create observational work using a variety of materials, including charcoal, acrylic on canvas, watercolor, and ink. They will develop foundational skills in color mixing, blending, sketching, and composition while working from direct observation. Through studies and still-life exercises, students will build finished pieces suitable for portfolio presentation. The class will also include opportunities to draw and paint outdoors in Woodmere’s gardens to create vibrant landscape paintings en plein air. This relaxed and supportive studio environment will enable students to strengthen their drawing and painting skills while deepening their understanding of technique, process, and creative expression. Students can take this class for the two sessions it is offered with projects that continue to challenge and develop their skills. All materials included. Dress for mess!

In Theatre Horizon’s Summer Drama Camp, young actors spend a week working as an ensemble to create an original play – full of drama, comedy, suspense, and one-of-a-kind characters. Professional teaching artists guide campers through playwriting basics and fun improvisation games. On the last day of camp, they perform their world premiere play for an audience of friends and family using props and costumes they made themselves! Drama Camp is a place to make new friends, build ensemble skills, take on leadership roles, and explore creativity. Curtain up!

Calling all artists who toddle! Join us for an hour of creative playtime in Woodmere's studios and galleries. Enjoy story time, a gallery walk, and an art project designed just for the museum's littlest visitors and their grown-ups. Art projects and activities change on a monthly basis.

Introduce your preschoolers to art experiences. Children will focus on one artwork, read a related story picture book and create an art project with their adult companion. A fun and engaging way for young children to enjoy art.
