Description

Albert Rosenthal was both a renowned portraitist and well-known art collector in Philadelphia who studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. His father, the engraver Max Rosenthal, introduced him to the world of the arts and trained him. Albert Rosenthal is known for his portraits of Philadelphia's mayors, Supreme Court Justices, and his collection of American drawings, which he donated to the Free Library of Philadelphia in 1927.
