Warlow, Claude Joseph
Description
Warlow was born in Williamstown, Pennsylvania, and was considered one of the most promising students at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, where he received several awards, including the prestigious Cresson Traveling Scholarship. Warlow sketched city views en plein air, often on bridges or from the topmost floors of tall buildings. This behavior resulted in him being taken into custody by the police as a suspected spy more than once. A victim of the influenza epidemic of 1918, Warlow died at age thirty.
