Description
An Italian immigrant from a family of artisans in the Abruzzi, d’Ascenzo studied briefly at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts before establishing a stained glass studio at 1608–10 Ludlow Street in Philadelphia in 1896. He had a distinguished career making stained glass windows for churches, schools, and residences up and down the East Coast, including the Washington Memorial Chapel in Valley Forge and the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, DC.
