Sankowsky, Itzhak
Description
Sankowsky studied in Florence, Italy, as well as at the University of Pennsylvania and privately with Arthur B. Carles. He taught for many years at the Philadelphia Museum of Art; Gratz College, Melrose Park; Har Zion Temple, Penn Valley; and Main Line Art Center, Haverford. He was an original member of the abstract artist collective known as Group ’55 and later exhibited with the Philadelphia Abstract Artists.
He had numerous solo exhibitions in Philadelphia and at the Burr Galleries, New York; AGRA Gallery, Washington, DC; and Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, among other venues. His work is in the collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Woodmere.
