Description

Born in New Jersey, Nelson studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the Barnes Foundation. He designed murals for a hospital while serving in the Army and later showed with other New York School Abstract Expressionists at the prominent New York galleries of Peggy Guggenheim and Betty Parsons. His work was frequently shown in Philadelphia, and is in the collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Woodmere.
