Description
Paulette Van Roekens was born in Chateau-Thierry, France on New Year's Day in 1896 but came to the U.S. as a child with her parents. She attended the Philadelphia School of Design for Women (now Moore College of Art & Design), the Graphic Sketch Club, and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. From 1923 to 1961 Van Roekens taught painting and drawing at the Moore College of Art & Design alongside her husband, New Hope artist and painter Arthur Meltzer.
