Description

Born in Akron, Ohio, Anliker received his BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art and, after serving in World War II, attended the American University at Biarritz in France. He went on to teach at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, where his most famous student was Andy Warhol, and at Temple University's Tyler School. He is represented in the permanent collections of the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Butler Institute of American Art, the Akron Art Museum, and the Carnegie Museum of Art. He had numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout his career at institutions such as the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and the Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris.
