Description

Born into a Quaker family in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia, Goodell attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. His mentors were Daniel Garber and Joseph Pearson. After serving as a carpenter in the Navy during World War II, he became a member of Woodmere’s Exhibition committee in the late 1940s. In 1951, he and his wife moved to California, where he lived until his death in 1999.
