Description

Li’s paintings convey an energy and passion that projects beyond the works’ small scale. Integrating perception and abstraction, Li’s expressive colors and use of thick, calligraphic brushstrokes convey the physicality of water’s motion and force. Her flowing gestures of paint suggest her training in Chinese calligraphy and painting where every stroke “emphasizes meaning, poetry, and expression.”
