Description

Sloan was known for his small-scale genre scenes set in historical times. He often depicted French subjects of the seventeenth or eighteenth century, as in A Good Story. Here two men sit across from each other, engaged in conversation, in an elegant Parisian interior. The flask of wine lubricates their storytelling.
