Description

Painted in oil, Along the Grand Canal, Venice offers a calm and peaceful view of the canals in Venice. The artist creates the illusion of space by overlapping figures and objects in front of the buildings. The windows have intricate patterns within them. The perspective is perfect with the building becoming small in the distance. This realistic work is balanced with boats, buildings, and men on both sides of the painting. In the foreground, men are in boats and on the dock conversing. Two primary colors of red and blue - stand out against the grays and browns. The boats cast flowing shadows onto the water.
