Description

In Gartside’s photograph, the ocean appears like a solid mass. Equally divided between sea and sky, the natural world takes on a geometric quality. Atlantic Crossing, Lone Cloud was shot days earlier and, despite the crossing indicated in the title, the featureless sea appears eerily similar to this photograph. The two images are part of a series of ten taken while the artist sailed to England.
