Description

Bear with Accordion is made of found objects, including a bear, accordions, tambourine, an oar, and a saw. Forms are balanced, but the equilibrium seems precarious. The painted surface unifies the many components and draws attention to their seemingly unrelated characteristics. Scanga’s provocative assemblage makes the viewer question the relationship between the disparate elements. Is there a narrative to be deciphered? Are the objects related in some way? The questions remain open.
