Description

Simultaneously powerful and vulnerable, Decoy for the Sprit is a totemic entity of great elegance. Barbara Zucker was inspired by a passage in Exodus, the second book of the Bible, in which "Decoys for the Spirit” are described as a series of winged poles that attract spiritual energies to earth.

Zucker was born and raised in Philadelphia. She received an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and an MA in sculpture from Hunter College. Zucker was one of the co-founders of A.I.R. Gallery, the first artist-run gallery for women in the United States.
