Description

A multiplicity of sensations dominates Grey Day I. Finely rendered, organic shapes evocative of leaves and branches flow together in broad, gestural sweeps. A strong green, black, and yellow line traverses the canvas, separating and unifying its spaces.

Goodman received his MFA from Temple University's Tyler School of Art and was awarded a Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Fellowship for painting.

I am interested in the moment when one spatial order is replaced by another, and a potentially dangerous new reality comes to focus. The rules for coherence are undermined and unity is cast into doubt. Conflicting fields rub together and show a new and unfamiliar terrain.
-Robert Goodman
