Description

Artist's Statement:

"Ingersoll's work merges organic and geometric elements, revealing the complexities of the human condition. Through explorations of natural subjects including water, dense woods, vines, and plants, she works to deconstruct the picture plane, to break it apart. The result is a sequence of grids, composed of overlapping lines and gestures, which work together to reconstruct the picture plane as a series of equal, individual parts. Underlying structure, she subtracts and adds to the grid with marks. This process of mapping and diagramming reads symbolically, suggesting expressions of the barriers from, or bridges to relationships. Memories of place are intertwined."
