In this still life, Faye Swengel Badura depicts a white pitcher and fruit with thick planes of color applied with a palette knife. Strong purple tones in the background make the yellow fruit in the foreground pop. New Hope Impressionist Badura was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. She studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, under the tutelage of Daniel Garber, and at the Barnes Foundation, where she was one of the artists who helped Albert Barnes in his quest to acquire great works of art. She and her husband Bernard (the famous frame maker) lived and worked from their home on Main Street in New Hope.
