Description

This drawing is from the 1942 book The Everett Shinn Illustrated Edition of the Night Before Christmas with text by Clement Clarke Moore. It was published by The John C. Winston Company in Philadelphia. The original text A Visit from St. Nicholas, commonly known as The Night Before Christmas was written by Clement Clark Moore in 1822. The poem was published in newspapers, almanacs, and magazines and remains a favorite for holiday celebrations.
