Description

Seated at her desk at home, Newberry costumes herself to appear twice in the guise of Thomas Jefferson. Her 18th-century garb seems comical next to the mundane reality of the 21st century. A cereal box lies on the floor, her cat’s litter box needs to be cleaned, and the image of President Richard M. Nixon flashes on a television monitor. Newberry dubs the scene the “Rectangle Office.”
