Michael Ciervo's work seems to have emerged from the subconscious. He paints precisely and methodically, weaving together geometric patterns and inchoate organic elements of a tree branch. The repeating pattern of triangles -the most stable of forms -seems broken and fugitive. For Ciervo, order is an illusion.
Ciervo is a painter and sculptor born in Wilmington, Delaware. He studied at Delaware College of Art and Design before attending the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. His work has been exhibited in Los Angeles at Dan Graham Gallery and in Philadelphia at FLUXspace, KNEW GALLERY, and Jenny Jaskey Gallery.
