Ed Bing Lee: Connecting the Knots
Working with colored thread and an unfathomable number of knots, Ed Bing Lee has developed a distinctive form of fiber art defined by intimacy, preciousness, humor, and the “micro-sublime,” an aesthetic that locates awe and infinity not in vastness but in the smallest details of our world. Ed Bing Lee: Connecting the Knots brings together works from the artist’s long career, from his Picnic series, inspired by Pointillist paintings; to Delectable, soft sculptures of iconic American foods such as hamburgers, popcorn, and ice cream cones, drawn from Pop imagery; to literary works and Meditations on the Chawan, centered on the bowls used in Japanese tea ceremonies.
