July 25, 2020
-
October 25, 2020

Gilbert Lewis (born 1945) is a leading figurative painter in Philadelphia and known for his sensitive and thoughtful portrayals of the gay male experience in Philadelphia. As an art therapist working at a nursing home for almost twenty years, he created an insightful series of individual portraits of the seniors with whom he worked. This exhibition presents a survey of his career and is presented in tandem with The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Kapp Kapp Gallery, and the William Way LGBT Community Center.

The exhibition is accompanied by an illustrated digital catalogue, linked below, and has been featured in an episode of Woodmere's podcast, Diving Board. To subscribe and listen, click here.
