I Dream a World: Philadelphia’s Young Artists Imagine the Future
Inspired by Langston Hughes’ powerful poem “I Dream A World,” this exhibition invites viewers into a collective vision shaped by freedom, justice, peace, and shared humanity. Students from kindergarten through high school responded to that call by expressing their own dreams for a more compassionate and connected future.
As part of the Global Philadelphia Association’s 250 partnership with Woodmere Art Museum, students participated in museum tours, close-looking experiences, poetry writing, and artmaking sessions that encouraged them to reflect on identity, community, belonging, and hope. Guided by works from Woodmere’s collection, studentsexplored how art can serve as both a mirror of lived experience and a map toward a better world.
Woodmere Art Museum extends heartfelt thanks to the teachers, art educators, and school communities whose partnership, creativity, and dedication made this exhibition possible.
Participating schools include:
Esperanza Academy Charter High School
John Story Jenks School
