Oskar Lange was a noted economist whose work provided the earliest model of market socialism. In 1945 he became the new Polish Communist regime's first Ambassador to the US, and in 1946 he served as the Polish delegate to the UN Security Council. He returned to Poland in 1947, where he continued working for the Polish government.
