Of Veloso, Oakley wrote, “An impressive person of mature years and experience in the ways of the world, his features indicate a long line of distinguished forebears. It is an antique profile, somewhat Dantesque; his polished dome reflects the lights of the ceiling in the Council Room in a veritable constellation: he shines crowned with stars.”
