Buddha [?] / is hero)Philadelphian Eugenie Mary Fryer (b. 1879) was a frequent contributor to magazines, as well as traveler to Europe in the early 1900s. Fryer combined her travel experiences and writing skills to a number of articles published in The Book News Monthly, which were later published in a volume The Hill-Towns of France (1923). Fryer was a friend of Oakley’s, who not only posed for the artist but praised her as well in an article she wrote about the Harrisburg murals for The Book News Monthly (Vol. 35, No. 12, August 1917, pp. 438-441).
