[bottom right of drawing in graphite]: V.O. ’48; [below drawing in graphite]: Portrait of a Southern Gentleman; [bottom center in graphite]: Lawrence Haynes, Sr.Haynes was Oakley’s cousin and father of tenor Lawrence Haynes, Jr. Oakley first travelled to his home in Jacksonville, Florida to paint his portrait in 1927. This portrait was made 21 years later.
