[bottom left in graphite]: Leo Stein; [verso in graphite]: Leo / SteinBorn in 1872, Leo Stein was a noted art collector, critic, champion of modern painting and the brother of Gertrude Stein. He and his wife lived in Florence, Italy, where he died in 1947.
