Description

[bottom left in graphite]: Princess ScherbatowFearful of assassination, the Prince, an exiled member of Russian royalty, changed his family name from Scherbatoff to Scherbatow. The couple married in Paris in 1923 (it was the Princess's third) and made their home in St. Augustine, Florida, at the hunting lodge built by the Princess's first husband. The lodge was renamed the Princess Palace Estate upon its designation as a Florida Heritage Landmark.
