Lachman, Frances

1913-1994
American

Description

Lachman was known for her draftsmanship in her figurative work and for the sensuous beauty of her abstractions.

She studied at Philadelphia’s Moore College of Art and Design and Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. She was one of the most active members of the abstract artist collective known as Group ’55 and the later Philadelphia Abstract Artists group, exhibiting in more of their shows than any other artist. Lachman was also a longtime teacher at the Community Arts Center in Wallingford and at the Samuel S. Fleisher Art Memorial.
