Description

Vera and her husband, Samuel S. White, 3rd, amassed a noted collection of works by modern French painters that, at her death, were bequeathed to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Included in their collection were works by Constantin Brancusi, Georges Braque, Henri Matisse, Jules Pascin, Pablo Picasso, Georges Rouault, and others. Also in the collection was a large portrait of Mrs. White by Arthur B. Carles, commissioned by the Whites in 1922, and a bronze figure of Mr. White by Auguste Rodin.
