Description

Roy C. Nuse often used family members in his paintings -here, a mother holds two children while watching her older son play in the water. There are patches of light that flicker across the backs of the figures' hair and clothing. Nuse used a broken brushstroke similar to that of Daniel Garber, his teacher at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. A dramatic, modernist pattern of circular ripples score the water.
