Description

Campbell’s black cat paintings derive from her imagined wanderings of the feral cats that live in her neighborhood, in Philadelphia’s Germantown neighborhood. Here a lone cat explores a snowy field, its journey into unknown territory evoking the independence and, perhaps, occult sensibilities associated with black cats. The “field of Venus and Karma” is actually a vacant lot across from Campbell’s studio, named after the owners of the adjacent home.
