Off Dieppe

This work portrays a view of the Dieppe coast in France below a dark and brooding sky. Choppy waves aggravate a boat as it sails into the harbor. Along the left, a dense crowd of houses meets the shoreline. The white capping waves, the taut sails, and the chimney smoke veering sharply right all give a great indication of a strong gust of wind that further exemplifies the dramatic weather. Also, note the intentional highlights of red on the flag of the sailboat and the house at the harbor.
