Description

Margaretta Hinchman’s self portrait presents an interesting view of the artist. An expression that substantiates the work's title rests upon her face, tired eyes sitting behind glasses that are hard to discern at first glance. Wispy, curled strokes have strong influence on Hinchman’s painting approach, giving character to the wall in a manner similar to the artist’s hair and neckline. The deliberate inclusion of the roses leaves for a mystery, though their common symbolism for passion might suggest a love for her artistic craft.
