Description

Here, white strokes undulate over black and contrast subtly with the color of the paper support. The allover composition and use of just black and white linked Ciliberti with the leading Abstract Expressionists, whose work he would have seen in New York and at a few Philadelphia galleries.

Over time he moved from fully abstract work to impressionistic scenes of nature in Maine; Cape May, New Jersey; and Philadelphia parks.
