Children and teen Classes and Workshops

Our kids and teens art programs encourage young artists to explore their creativity through fun, hands-on projects in a variety of mediums. Classes are designed to inspire self-expression, develop artistic skills, and foster a love for art in a supportive and engaging environment.

Design and create your own necklace pendant in this hands-on jewelry class! Students will learn how to transform sheet metal into a personalized pendant necklace, exploring both design and craftsmanship. Along the way, you’ll be introduced to riveting, a technique for joining metal pieces, while gaining experience with jewelry-making tools such as jeweler’s saws, small hammers, and a drill press! Come ready to experiment, create, and build something uniquely your own. No prior experience needed. All materials and tools will be provided.

Draw inspiration from the galleries at Maguire Hall with teacher-guided museum tours followed by making art in the MacDonald Children’s Art Studio. Students will become creators and curators by constructing their own diorama of a miniature museum. Each class will be spent developing a different section of their mini museum, including making their own original small-scale artwork. Use a range of materials to design wallpaper, install flooring and build a sculpture garden. The final day of class will include creating admission tickets and brochures, then taking a tour of classmates’ museums. All materials included. Dress for mess!

This relaxed and supportive studio environment will enable students to strengthen their drawing and painting skills while deepening their understanding of technique, process, and creative expression. Students can take this class for the two sessions it is offered with projects that continue to challenge and develop their skills. All materials included. Dress for mess!
