[lower center in black pastel]: Brazil / Dr. Velloso [sic] -- Oct 29 [?] - 1946 [in graphite] / Violet Oakley [in graphite]; [bottom left in graphite]: Dr. Pedro Leao Velloso [sic]Of Veloso, Oakley wrote, “An impressive person of mature years and experience in the ways of the world, his features indicate a long line of distinguished forebears. It is an antique profile, somewhat Dantesque; his polished dome reflects the lights of the ceiling in the Council Room in a veritable constellation: he shines crowned with stars.”
