Guy Pène du Bois

From 1922–24 Biddle lived in Greenwich Village, New York, living the life of a bohemian. He developed friendships with William and Marguerite Zorach, Gaston Lachaise, Robert Chanler, Rockwell Kent, Louis Bouché, Man Ray, and Guy Pène du Bois, among others. In the Village, he recalled, artists flowed in and out, sharing ideas and drinking illegal hooch. He drew this portrait of his friend, the painter, art critic, and educator Guy Pène du Bois after leaving the city.
