Untitled (Double Silhouette)

Different from most of Rose’s other works, this print was not made with a camera.  Instead, he laid down a large sheet of photo sensitive paper and exposed it to light. Even though he would often let his models choose their poses, in this work he staged the models himself, positioning them on the paper to block the exposure, thereby creating the silhouette image. The intent of this work is not to tell a specific narrative but rather to focus on the shape and placement of the figures. The introduced features such as the line break up the plane and create an opposition character.
