Description

Julius Bloch learned lithography in 1927 from Theodore Cuno and would frequently employ the medium over the next three decades. As seen in After Sundown, he used the print technique to render landscapes and explored its stylistic potential. This picture is done in loose, sketchy lines, reminiscent of the work of Impressionist painters, which he came to know through the collection of the Barnes Foundation.
