Well into the 1960s, Hubbard would maintain her modernist approach. In this landscape, dappled sunlight filters through the leafless trees; this is the cool light of an autumn day. There is also a mysterious quality to the image: the road beckons us in, but shadows fall across the path. We can only imagine where the road may lead.
