Staffel uses vertical lines to suggest forms that meld into mysterious spaces, and muted yellows, ochre, vibrant blues, and saturated greens to create transitions within them. She was a founding member of Group ’55 and a participant in several forums; she joined the Philadelphia Abstract Artists and exhibited with them from 1957 through 1962.
